Leslie’s Story

Leslie lay on a cold hospital bed, feeling dizzy and nauseous and anxious. She was overwhelmed by a thumping heartbeat and a severe headache. But her low mood was her biggest source of pain.

Although she had been admitted for high blood pressure, Leslie was also struggling with severe depression. She had been depressed, on and off, for years. It was hard to get out of bed, and everything felt cold and gray and flat. She struggled to care for her five children. Sometimes, she felt like she was drowning.
